It’s not a marathon…

Any skill worth having is going to take to acquire.

What often happens though is that if someone is not instantly good at a skill, they give up. Learning to play guitar is one example. We all know someone who has dreamed of learning to play yet a few weeks in, they have given up.

Why is this?

No one that quits is a bad person, yet when they talk of their quitting, they speak with a certain shame, one that certainly isn’t deserved. It comes from a self imposed guilt that arises out of somehow “not being good enough” to learn.

If you want to be good at something, you need to accept that following:

It is going to take time, considerable time. The sooner you accept that, the easier it all gets. Do not misunderstand me, the learning itself will not get easier but dealing with the time aspect gets easier.

If you want to succeed, start now and accept that you are in for the long haul.

Onward to glory.
